Fort Point gastropub hosts patio party with breweries, cornhole tournament and specials.

This July 4, City Tap House in Fort Point will host their first annual “Independence Day BeerBQ Battle.” Brewery teams including Lord Hobo Brewing, Otter Creek Brewing and Boulevard Brewing Company will gather to serve up their best beer-and-BBQ creations to determine which one will take home the BeerBQ Battle title based on revelers’ votes. While a live band churns out everyone’s favorite summer pop hits from the early-2000s, guests dressed in red, white and blue will indulge in the best tastes from the grill while showing off their cornhole skills in an epic elimination tournament.

In addition to breweries exhibiting their liquid seasonal specialties, City Tap House will feature a booze-fueled throwback from your childhood ice cream truck days, a layered Bomb Pop slushie ($10 each). Additionally, each competing team will put forth a BBQ Plate ($20 each). City Tap’s contending plate will be piled high with blueberry and stout braised shortribs, an ear of corn with cinnamon-chipotle butter and an apple-saison coleslaw.

America always has been great.
