Weyerbacher Brewing Company in Easton, Pennsylvania, has filed its second Chapter 11 bankruptcy petition in the last three years.

Weyerbacher Brewing Company’s post-bankruptcy plans include a collaboration with regional fast-food chain White Castle and several new product lines.

The private investment group announced as a majority investor in Weyerbacher Brewing Company this past April has backed out of the deal, the brewery’s chief operating officer, Josh Lampe, told Brewbound. Instead, the Easton, Pennsylvania-based craft brewery has turned to a group of seven individuals and two trusts to invest $50,000 in exchange for shares in the business, according to a reorganization plan filed in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Pennsylvania’s Eastern District.

Weyerbacher Brewing Company today announced the sale of a majority stake in the company to 1518 Holdings LLC, a Philadelphia-based private investment group. Speaking to Brewbound, newly named president Josh Lampe, who previously served as chief operating officer and has supplanted brewery founder Dan Weirback as the company’s leader, said 1518 Holdings had acquired a 55 percent stake in the 24-year-old business.

Weyerbacher Brewing has partnered with Triple Sun Spirits to create Jester’s Tale Vodka. Jester’s Tale is handcrafted in the Lehigh Valley by Triple Sun Spirits at their Emmaus location. Distilled from corn, it’s six times distilled, charcoal filtered and gluten free.

On Saturday, March 23, Weyerbacher Brewing will be introducing Chocolate Pretzel Sunday Morning Stout, a variation on their barrel aged fan favorite, Sunday Morning Stout.

Craft brewery owners in Pennsylvania are attempting to restructure the collection of a forthcoming sales tax that is slated to begin next July and would increase the cost of beer sold directly to consumers for on- and off-premise consumption at the state’s nearly 300 taprooms, tasting rooms and brewpubs. The point of contention for brewery owners is not the implementation of the tax itself, but rather when it is collected.

Craft beer wholesaler Cavalier Distributing has acquired the distribution rights to “all suppliers” within the portfolio of Florida-based Micro Man Distributors. According to a letter sent by Cavalier founder and president George Fisher, that was addressed to its Florida beer suppliers, the transaction closed on Monday, October 22. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
