Commercial Description:

Pumking is an ode to Púca, a creature of Celtic folklore, who is both feared and respected by those who believe in it. Púca is said to waylay travelers throughout the night, tossing them on its back, and providing them the ride of their lives, from which they return forever changed. Brewed in the spirit of All Hallows Eve, a time of the year when spirits can make contact with the physical world and when magic is most potent. Pour Pumking into a goblet and allow it’s alluring spirit to overflow. As spicy aromas present themselves, let it’s deep copper color entrance you as your journey into this mystical brew has just begun. As the first drops touch your tongue a magical spell will bewitch your taste buds making it difficult to escape the Pumking....Read More

Brewbound Review:

In the world of pumpkin beers, Southern Tier's Imperial Pumking takes flavor and balance in a wonderfully strange new direction. More than just the smell of spices (nutmeg, cinnamon, all spice, etc.) or the smell of fresh pumpkin, Pumking hits your nose as if you were sniffing a glass of pumpkin pie or, more accurately, pumpkin cookies. It’s full of spice and bready, doughy malts. Unlike a glass of pumpkin pie though, this beer is a clear copper color with a decent white head. The flavor is starchy and reminiscent of a pumpkin flavor cookie. The spices aren’t exactly subtle, but one isn’t any more distinguishable than another. The flavor is well balanced and does a great job of hiding the 9% alcohol this beer is packed with. As an imperial pumpkin ale with such an original flavor profile, Pumking is a unique brew that is definitely worth a try.

iiiiiintense. Jesus. My boyfriend described this as "halloween in a bottle" and he was RIGHT. Which is maybe not for the best. It kind of tastes like candy corn dissolved in a very strong pumpkin beer. Oh and is. it. ORANGE. Its like liquid fall leaves coming out of the bottle. Amazing. But definitely not my favorite

I found this beer to be very sweet, almost like eating a pumpkin cookie. At times the sweetness outdid the beer, which I found to be a bit of a downside.

This stuff is over the top! It's totally different than the other pumpkin beers out there and I actually like it better than last year's pumking (despite what others may say).

Had high expectations for this. Was a little too spicy (cloves?) for me. DFH Punkin is preferrable to this. Also wish it came in a smaller bottle.
