We should just write "I'll have another," for this review and call it a day, but even that wouldn't do this beer justice. When we think of summer, we think of refreshment. Of course, some of the more refreshing craft beers will often times sacrifice taste elements in the hopes of achieving that crisp, ultra-drinkable sensation. The Twilight Summer Ale manages to be balanced and complex while still being crisp and refreshing. Right from the pour -a clean golden-pale color with a thick, foamy two-finger head - you can tell this is going to be a nice drink. The aroma's are pleasant and balanced with both sweet and bready malts shining through over a more subtle citrusy-hop nose. Elements of orange and caramel are less pronounced but certainly present. The flavor-profile is where this beer really starts to take its form. Elements of orange, honey and slight wheat character emerge, making this beer quite enjoyable. The hop profile is clearly there, but not overpowering. This lends itself to easy drinking, keeping your taste buds wanting additional sips while never allowing them to get dry. A creamy mouthfeel still manages to be light and refreshing (Think of this beer as a light, American pale ale). The Twilight Summer Ale is a nice smooth drink from start to finish and will make for perfect consumption on that hot summer day after a bike ride or for a backyard BBQ. It is available from April through September in 6-packs, 12-packs and on draft.
