Yards Brewing Company Releases Pynk Tart Berry Ale

Philadelphia, PA — Yards Brewing Company is back at it again, releasing their seasonal brew, PYNK: A Tart Berry Ale. PYNK was originally brewed as a draught-only limited release in the early 2000s, but this marks its fourth year as a packaged and draught seasonal from the Philadelphia-based regional craft brewery, available through October.

Yards proudly donates $1 from every case and 5¢ from every pint of PYNK sold to breast cancer research, treatment and awareness. Last year, Yards raised more than $13,000 for the Tyanna Foundation, for a grand total of$30,000. The company is pleased to announce that Tyanna will be their partner once again this year. The Tyanna Foundation is built upon one woman’s legacy through the work of her five daughters to make breast cancer more comfortable for patients and less prevalent on the planet.

“For the last four years Yards Brewing Company has partnered with The Tyanna Foundation to help support local women in Philadelphia, New Jersey and Baltimore that are battling breast cancer,” said Katie George of the Tyanna Foundation “Not only has this partnership had financial benefits but the message that Yards has helped us spread and the smaller partnerships it has created have been invaluable.”

Fans of PYNK know this beer is like no other. Yards brewers add more than 3,300 pounds of sour and sweet cherries and raspberries to each batch, resulting in an effervescent, tart berry ale that’s pleasantly pink in color. Delighting the palate, this light-bodied brew finishes refreshingly dry. Alc. 5.5% by Vol. and is scheduled to brew 1,000 barrels.

“When we brought PYNK back as a packaged beer 2013, we wanted it to be special, so we teamed up with Tyanna. It made sense to release the beer in early fall to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month,” Yards Founder and President, Tom Kehoe says. “Plus PYNK was a nice alternative to all the pumpkin beers out there.” he adds. “But this beer is a perfect summer brew, too, so now it comes out in July and is available through October. The earlier release gives us more time to raise funds for Tyanna. Win win!”

This year, 12-ounce bottles of PYNK will be available in 6-packs, cases and newly available 12-packs throughout the Mid-Atlantic region wherever Yards ales are served or sold, now through October 31st, or while supplies last.

About the Tyanna Foundation

Founded in 1999 by five sisters, the Tyanna Foundation is a volunteer-run organization dedicated to improving the lives of breast cancer patients. Anne-Margaret, Bridget, Megan, Sara and Katie O’Brien lost their mother Tyanna Barre O’Brien, then 48, to breast cancer in 1990. Through various fundraising events around the nation including BreastFest, the Tyanna Foundation has raised over one million dollars for breast cancer awareness, research, services, education, treatment and patient care. Over 10 years later, the organization remains 100% volunteers and 90% of the funds stay in the local area.
