Wormtown Named Champion at U.S. Open Beer Championship

Worcester, MA–The United States Open Beer Championship announced that Wormtown Brewery of Worcester, MA is the Grand National Champion for 2014. The US Beer Open consisted of over 3,000 beer entries from all over the world.

Wormtown Brewery finished the competition as the top rated brewery based on the strength of its individual brand medals. Currently Worcester’s only brewery, Wormtown was awarded 3 Gold Medals in the following categories:

  • Imperial IPA — Hopulence
  • American IPA — Be Hoppier
  • French/Belgian Ale — Biere de Miele

In addition the brewery was also awarded a Silver Medal:

  • French/Belgian Sasion – ALS Farmhouse Fundraiser

With its total of 4 medals (3 Gold 1 Silver) Wormtown Brewery earned the title of Grand National Champion, beating out breweries from all over the world. This title and the accompanying Medals add to a long list of industry recognition for Ben Roesch and his brewing team at Wormtown that include multiple GIBF Gold and Silver medals, GABF Bronze, World Beer Cup Silver, and multiple medals from the Denver International Beer Competition, the New York International Beer Competition and the US Beer Tasting Championships. According to Roesch, Co-founder and Brew master “this is not only a great honor, but a tremendous way to celebrate the 4th of July with our team. These guys have really been working overtime as we get ready to open our new facility and I could not be more proud of this accomplishment.” Roesch continued, “It is really amazing to see the list of recognized quality breweries on the list that finished behind our beers. I didn’t really understand what I was reading when we received the announcement. I think it will sink in when our plaque is personally delivered in a few weeks — well that and when we celebrate with the team this Friday!”
