Tradition Brewing Company to Open in Virginia

Newport News, Va. — Tradition Brewing Company, a soon to open craft brewery, announced on December 16, 2015 the signing of a lease agreement for a new brewing space located in the City Center area of Oyster Point at 700 Thimble Shoals Boulevard, Newport News. Va. The company plans to begin construction January 2016 and open to the public late Spring 2016.

“We are thrilled to have identified a location in the heart of Oyster Point and at the Jefferson corridor entrance to the City Center District,” says Gray Bowditch, Co-Founder and Partner. “The proximity to three main destinations on the Peninsula – Port Warwick, The Marketplace at Tech Center and City Center at Oyster Point – will allow for first of their kind collaborations within the local community and a high density of pedestrian traffic.”

The 6,700 square foot production space will host a 20-barrel Deutsche Beverage Technology brewing system, kegging operations, two sizable walk-in refrigeration units and space to add a bottling line. Patrons will have the opportunity to observe the brewing process in action through private tours or while seated in the 4,200 square foot tasting room enjoying pints, flights and growler fills. The second floor 1,450 square foot mezzanine will provide space for private parties, corporate training events, social reunions, etc. The smaller 620 square foot conference room will offer a more intimate space for local businesses’ board meetings and other smaller group events.

Randy Thomas of Spacemakers, Inc. in Norfolk, Va. will be responsible for the construction phase of the team’s new space. “Randy and his team’s past experience building other local breweries such as O’Connor Brewing Company and Commonwealth Brewery proves he understands what it takes to develop the right space for our brewery,” says Andy Beale, Co-Founder and Partner. Tymoff & Moss, Architects of Norfolk, Va. designed the the space for Tradition Brewing.
