Sterling Beer Honors Famed Racehorse with Secretariat Pils

Sterling Beer “Sterling Greats” Secretariat

Louisville, KY – Sterling Beer is paying tribute to Secretariat, America’s Super Horse and 1973 Triple Crown Champion, with the release of its 2016 Sterling Greats limited edition can, officially licensed by Secretariat’s owner Penny Chenery and the Triple Crown.  The distinctive can marks the first in a collectible series paying tribute to American Greats.

Throughout its storied 150-year history, Sterling Beer released collectible cans honoring famous landmarks in the South and Kentucky Derby winners. Keeping with that tradition, Sterling Beer is releasing the first in a collectible can series of Sterling Greats.  Secretariat, regarded by many as the greatest Thoroughbred racehorse in American history, was the winner of the 1973 Triple Crown, setting stakes records in the Kentucky Derby, The Preakness Stakes and the Belmont Stakes. Like Secretariat’s record times, Sterling has stood the test of time and is being revitalized to its historical stature as the Beer of the South.

“Sterling, the Good Luck Brand, and Secretariat remind us of what is great about our heritage and take us to a place where quality and excellence go hand in hand”, says Todd Jackson, President of Sterling Beer.  “This collectible can and unique packing honors Secretariat’s famous Triple Crown run and the presence of Sterling Beer as a local favorite throughout the South.”

Sterling Beer was reintroduced to the Kentucky market in 2013 and has become a local favorite of heritage brand beer drinkers.  “We are excited about this project and our steady growth since bringing the brand back.  With this Sterling Greats Secretariat can, we are opening new markets in Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Ohio and are extremely excited about our new distributor partners,” says Jackson.
