Smuttynose to Release Granite State Destroyer Imperial Corn Lager

Granite State Destroyer

Hampton, NH – Granite State Destroyer might be the most New Hampshire beer we’ve ever made!

This “imperial corn lager” is a collaboration between Smuttlabs and Granite State heavy rock lords, Scissorfight.

We first released Granite State Destroyer (8.5% abv) in 2015 and it flew off our shelves. Who doesn’t loved a good, old-fashioned malt liquor lager? The beer was intended to be a fun one-off project that paid tribute to our favorite native band (sorry, GG Allin). To keep things in line with the concept, we made a limited amount of 32 ounce bottles just for brewery sales while the rest of the batch trickled out into the world in kegs. Let’s be honest, filling quart bottles of GSD on small bottle filler and hand-labelling them was a real labor of love.

Things changed big time this February. Scissorfight announced their return with nine shows, their first live gigs in a decade. We knew exactly what to do besides self-aggrandizing, singing songs about fighting, and shedding a dim light on mysterious, dark corners of New Hampshire (all subjects of Scissorfight songs) and we needed lots of corn to do it.

At the writing of this post, Granite State Destroyer kegs are available to tap rooms and restaurants through Smuttynose’s revolutionary allocation tool, the Beer Vault.

We will be releasing a limited amount of 32-ounce bottles at the brewery on May 14. We’ve got about 20 cases, so supplies are limited. Scissorfight will be at the brewery too, meeting and greeting from 12pm-3pm. We’ll also be tapping kegs and pouring pints (weather permitting), so come hang out and drink beer. Doors open at 11am.
