Silver City Brewery Releases 2 New Beers

Bremerton, WA — The first half of 2016 is drawing to a close. The 20th Anniversary Series of Silver City brews has already been one supreme parade of excellence… but the most excellent may still yet be to come. Will it be unveiled today?

Big Daddy’s ESB

The Silver City Brewery crew have spent the past few months cranking out totally radical retro revivals such as the Macfarlane’s Scotch Ale, Deluxe Malt Liquor, and Copper Mountain Maibock- which brings us to the granddaddy of them all: “Big Daddy’s ESB”. With a nickname dating back his tutelage at the famous Thomas Kemper Brewery [and long before Adam Sandler starred in that crappy movie with the girl from Mallrats], Don “Big Daddy” Spencer has been Silver City’s one-and-only brewmaster since the company was founded in 1996.

As the restaurant-and-brewery were approaching launch in September of ’96, Don made it his goal to anchor the draft lineup with the ultimate everyday pub classic that could stand up to any dish or palate thrown at it. With a rich maltiness that was quite novel in an era when domestic yellows dominated taps & storefronts, and a decidedly Pacific Northwest character imparted by Cascade hops, the resulting brew was so bombastically brilliant that there was obviously only one choice for Don to name his creation after… himself.

Twenty years later, the once-lauded ESB style has become somewhat forgotten. Like our current political climate, the craft beer scene has become reduced to who can create the loudest, irrational, shamelessly attention-seeking beers. ESB, which stands for “extra special bitter”, just really didn’t seem that bitter anymore. Enter “Big Daddy”. With the audacity of hops, Don(ald) has set out to make ESB’s great again! Combining the classic recipe with modern brewing technology and hopping practices, this truly Extra Special Bitter utilizes British malt to strike a perfect balance of body and bitterness for distinguished drinkability.

Big Daddy’s ESB is now available on draft and in 22oz bottles for a limited time at Silver City Brewery & Taproom, Silver City Restaurant, and specialty bottle shops and tap houses throughout Western Washington.

Chardonnay Barrel-Aged Liquid Sunshine Tripel

Arcane forces of awesome have gestated inside a womb of oak and vine for countless moons, and on June 16th we celebrate this cherub-born-of-screaming-demons falling to earth in the form of “Chardonnay Barrel-Aged Liquid Sunshine”.

Many years ago, one succulent succubus of a brew began its dominion as the annually-recurring, limited series Liquid Sunshine Belgian-Style Tripel. With a delicate profile and spicy fruit notes, a specialized Belgian yeast strain is skyrocketed into maximum-fermentation-overdrive with the addition of candied sugar.

Over the ages, the cult of Liquid Sunshine has grown vast, but every year it vanishes nary a trace- until now. In the laboratories of Silver City Brewery, a mystical monk from space (we just call him Matt) devised a plan to capture and refine this gold matter using alchemy sourced from a local winery. Oak barrels that once housed Chardonnay absorb its essence, and are launched on a single revolution around the sun.

As the Liquid completes its journey, the firey, fruity, deliciousness mellows and inherits the angelic vanilla and pear-like traits of its vessel, returning to earth for one epic encore of insanity.

Chardonnay Barrel-Aged Liquid Sunshine is an extreme rarity, offered in 500ml bottles at Silver City Brewery & Taproom, Silver City Restaurant, and at a select few specialty bottle shops.
