SANTA FE, New Mexico – The Santa Fe Brewing Company was awarded three medals at the 2014 North American Beer Awards. The BJCP (Beer Judge Certification Program) sanctioned event held in Idaho Falls, ID. on June 7th, 2014 included 115 participating breweries from all over the country. Over 400 different beers were entered into the competiton.
The classic Santa Fe Pale Ale received a Silver medal in the Strong Bitter ESB category. Santa Fe Brewing Co.’s limited release “Los Innovadores Series” received 2 medals; a Silver for the Kriek (a barrel aged cherry sour) in the Fruit Beers category, and a Gold for the Single Barrel (an unblended barrel aged sour) in the Lambic category. “New Mexico brewers are making some of the greatest beers around and this is another feather in the cap for Santa Fe Brewing Co.” said Brian Lock, Owner. The Kriek will be released in very small quantities August 1st throughout the Santa Fe Brewing distribution footprint.
The North American Brewer’s Association, founded in 1996, holds an annual, prestigious brewing competition. Judges at the annual sanctioned beer awards include brew masters from major national breweries as well as experts from small, independent breweries. Also judging are beer journalists and certified judges. Evaluation and judging of beers are conducted in sessions which lead to the award of Gold, Silver and Bronze medals. Since 1997, hundreds of competitors have participated.
