River North Introduces Cabernet Barrel Aged J. Marie

Denver, Colo. — On Saturday, May 30th, River North Brewery will release Cabernet Barrel Aged J. Marie, their signature imperial saison aged in freshly emptied Cabernet Sauvignon barrels from California. The brewery will host a release party at 1pm in their taproom at 2401 Blake Street in Denver.

Marie, a River North staple, was one of the first recipes when the brewery opened in 2012. Since then, they’ve aged it in numerous barrels, such as whiskey, chardonnay, scotch and tequila.

Cabernet Barrel J. Marie is an entirely new take on this classic. Notes of black currant, fresh apricot and orange marmalade complement a dry, lingering oak finish, with just the right amount of malt character for balance.

“Each time we age J. Marie in new barrels, they impart their own unique character to the beer and elevate the character of our imperial saison in a profound way,” Head Brewer Matt Hess said. “We’re rarely disappointed with how this beer develops when given a bit of quality time in oak.”

Cabernet Barrel Aged J. Marie will be available on draft and in bombers-to-go ($15) at the taproom release party on May 30th. A limited number of bottles will hit store shelves in Colorado and Kansas City following the release, with rare kegs pouring at fine bars and taphouses. In total, the brewery bottled 150 cases.
