Ninkasi Adds Permanent Distribution in Philadelphia

Ninkasi Brewing is expanding its reach in the east once again. The rapidly growing craft brewery, based in Eugene, Ore., today announced it would add permanent distribution throughout the Philadelphia area next month.

In a press statement, the company said it had signed agreements with Gretz Beer Co. and Penn Beer.

Year-round distribution of its core lineup, including Total Domination IPA, Tricerahops Double IPA, Dawn of the Red India Red Ale, Lux Helles Lager, Oatis Oatmeal Stout and Vanilla Oatis Oatmeal Stout, will begin on Nov. 2

The brand shouldn’t be totally unfamiliar to Philly craft drinkers, however. Ninkasi first began sending “blast shipments” to the area last December for special events, including Philly Beer Week.

“For a year now, we have built strong relationships throughout Philadelphia,” Ninkasi CEO and co-founder Nikos Ridge said in the statement. “We look forward to bringing even more Ninkasi to craft beer enthusiasts and helping the excitement for craft continue to grow.”

Founded in 2006, Ninkasi has historically limited the distribution of its products to the Pacific Northwest and California, but has steadily added new markets — including Virginia, Maryland, New York and Texas — over the last 12 months.

Ranked by the Brewers Association as the 36th largest U.S. craft brewery in 2014, Ninkasi expects to sell 110,000 barrels of beer in 2015 across 11 states and Canada.
