Carpinteria, CA  It was only a matter of time before the brewery closest to the tracks made the leap onto the Amtrak trains that daily whiz by this seaside brewery. Island Brewing Company is now riding the rails aboard the Amtrak Surfliner with its Hopliner IPA. The Hopliner IPA is an American IPA brewed with generous amounts of Azacca and El Dorado hops, served in 22 oz. bottles. This craft beer has quickly gained a local following, and is poised to win over even more tastebuds now that it is available on the train in the Café Car, along the 350-mile, 27- stop stretch from San Luis Obispo to San Diego.

“It’s something we’ve thought about for years,” says owner and founder Paul Wright. “Pretty much every time the Surfliner went by and everyone with a beer in their hand on our patio waved at the people on the train waving back we thought, ‘How great would it be to get one of our beers on the train?” and now it’s happening.”

The Hopliner IPA label reproduces the Surfliner blue and silver livery, and combines that with a multitude of icongraphic art and symbols that are found around the brewery and in the Central Coast area. Island Brewing Company recently celebrated its 15th Anniverary and has brewed up a bevy of impressive accolades including Gold Medals at both the World Beer Cup and the Great American Beer Festival. The brewery recently won another medal at the Great American Beer Festival in October.  Island Brewing Company is a family run brewery that has become a mainstay of the Carpinteria and Santa Barbara communities.
