After completing an “extensive” internal and external search, Duvel Moortgat USA yesterday announced Bobby Dykstra as its new vice president of the sales.

Dykstra, a 12-year beer industry veteran, takes over for Steve Mills, who left to become CEO of Uinta Brewing earlier this month.

“This is a particularly important appointment for our company at a key point in our evolution towards becoming the pre-eminent high-end craft brewer in the United States,” Simon Thorpe, president of Duvel Moortgat USA said in a statement. “Bobby is the right leader to oversee our continuing strong sales growth as we roll-out national distribution for Boulevard, accelerate the development of our high-end Smokestack, Ommegang and Import beers and build our off-premise capabilities. We are fortunate to have a particularly strong team at Duvel Moortgat and it is important for us to grow and develop our leadership from within the company.”

In his new role, Dykstra will lead sales efforts for Duvel’s U.S. brewery ventures – Boulevard Brewing and Brewery Ommegang – as well as imports from the company’s five European craft breweries. He previously served as the company’s director of national accounts. Prior to joining Boulevard and Duvel Moortgat USA in 2012, Dykstra held a number of senior sales positions with MillerCoors.

A company spokeswoman told Brewbound that no additional executive changes are planned at this time.

Duvel Moortgat USA, which produced more than 234,000 barrels of beer in 2014, was ranked as the 12th largest U.S. craft brewery last year, according to Brewers Association records.
