Crazy Mountain Brewing Company To Undergo Massive Expansion

Crazy Mountain BrewingEDWARDS, CO – Crazy Mountain Brewing Company, based in the Vail Valley, will undergo a $4.1 million expansion this Fall to increase production and distribution of their handcrafted beer.

This expansion will facilitate a significant amount of growth for the 2-year-old brewery, enabling out-of-state distribution and production volume increases. Crazy Mountain will be expanding distribution to some of the nation’s largest beer distributors in California, Texas and Florida. The addition of these new markets leads to a forecast that 2012 sales will grow 500% over 2011 sales numbers. Crazy Mountain has distributors awaiting their beer in 6 additional states as soon as Crazy Mountain can ramp up their production.

The first distributor to add Crazy Mountain Brewery to their craft beer portfolio is the Reyes Beverage Group, operating from fourteen warehouses in eleven markets across the nation. They are large supporters of the craft beer industry, carrying other brands such as Dogfish Head Brewery and New Belgium Brewery. The Reyes Beverage Group carries over 800 SKUs and distributes over 100 million cases of beer to over 32,000 accounts annually. They will kick off by launching Crazy Mountain Brewery in the Southern California market in December.

GBL Distributing Company, founded in 1960 by G.B. Litchfield, will represent Crazy Mountain Brewery in the Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and Ventura counties in Central California. This family-run corporation also distributes beers like Pabst and Full Sail, as well as wine, spirits, energy drinks, snacks and teas. GBL will bring Crazy Mountain to many high-end coastal and college communities in California. L&F Distributors Limited will handle Crazy Mountain distribution in Southern and Western Texas. This aggressive channel will be supplemented by Favorite Brands LLC in Dallas, TX.

Brewmaster and CEO Kevin Selvy says, “We are excited to take the next step as a brewery and start distributing on a national level. The chance to share our beer with craft beer drinkers in other states is truly an honor.”

There will also be a physical expansion Crazy Mountain Brewery’s production facility in Edwards, Colorado. They will be doubling the size of the facility, which enables them to increase their canning operation with a larger and more efficient canning line. Crazy Mountain will be able to can more in 1 hour that they currently can in a whole day. This will also allow them to begin canning 2 new styles of beer: Lava Lake Wit and Mountain Livin’ Pale Ale. The addition of a new bottling line for larger format bottles (22 oz and 750ml) will enable Crazy Mountain to bottle 5 styles of specialty brews for retail.

To facilitate this production increase, Crazy Mountain will be adding in 10,000 gallons of new fermentation tank space to the newly expanded cellar space. They will also add 2 beers into their year round portfolio: Horseshoes & Hand Grenades ESB and Scenic Route Kolsch. Crazy Mountain is proud to be able to offer their beer in other states and markets.
