Coronado Brewing Company announced yesterday that it would expand distribution to Texas, signing with Brown Distributing.

The San Diego-based company’s beers will be available in the Lone Star State this month, according to a press release.

“We’ve seen the Texas craft beer scene grow exponentially over the past few years and we’re excited to share our beer with a savvy, new audience,” Coronado Brewing COO Brandon Richards said in a press release. “San Diego and Austin share a lot of similarities when it comes to appreciating the best life has to offer-and doing it your own way-and we think our brand will resonate with Texans.”

Coronado’s launch begins with a draft-only rollout of the brewery’s year-round beers such as Orange Ave. Wit, Mermaid’s Red and Islander IPA. Six-packs of 12 oz. cans and large-format bottles will follow.

Texas is the 19th state where Coronado beers are sold. The brewery’s beer is also available internationally in 12 countries.

“We don’t need to be everywhere,” Richards said in the release. “We want to be strategic about our growth, and who we partner with. We’re optimistic about the demand for our beer in the Austin market, and we’re excited to have Brown Distributing debut our brand in Texas.”

The company has grown steadily since opening an expanded production facility in 2012. That year, Coronado brewed just 8,649 barrels of beer, a figure that grew to 35,480 barrels of beer in 2015, according to Brewers Association records.

Coronado has also made a number of strategic moves in 2016: In May, it unveiled refreshed product packaging and in July, the company promoted Richards and Kasey Chapman to dual chief operating officer positions. In those role, Richards and Chapman individually manage the company’s brewery and retail operations.

Editor’s Note: Coronado will also host the official Brewbound Session after party at its production brewery (1205 Knoxville, San Diego) on Thursday, December 1. The event is limited to registered Brewbound Session attendees only. For more information, and to purchase tickets to the conference, click here.
