Clown Shoes Beer Releases Fall Seasonal, Genghis Pecan

BURLINGTON, MA — Clown Shoes Beer, based in Massachusetts, is preparing to release its much-anticipated fall seasonal beer Genghis Pecan in the beginning of September. This “pecan pie porter” is a dark, full-flavored beer clocking in at 7% ABV, and incorporates 200 pounds of freshly roasted pecans from Q’s Nuts in Somerville, MA.

The image on the label features Genghis Khan fending off turkeys wearing clown shoes by throwing pecan pies at them, set against an autumn sky. The brewery releases this special beer once a year, just in time for the holidays, and this “2013 vintage” has a slightly tweaked recipe that aims to accentuate the roasted pecan flavors even more.

With many breweries releasing pumpkin beers and Oktoberfest styles this time of year, this brewery has taken a different approach, offering a refreshing alternative to an autumnal release.

About:

Founded in December 2009 by beer lovers trying to make work fun again, Clown Shoes has been redefining what craft beer should be, striving to add creative twists on under-represented styles and styles in need of change. The brewery was recently named “Top Brewer in Massachusetts” by RateBeer.com, where many of their styles are rated 99 out of 100. With the influx of new craft breweries in the US, Clown Shoes has carved out a unique niche with its edgy and often comical labels and unconventional styles. With beers like “Chocolate Sombrero” (a chocolate stout that incorporates vanilla, cinnamon, and ancho chiles) and “Clementine” (a Belgian white ale brewed with sweet orange peel, coriander, and clementine essence), this brewery continues to express itself in new and creative ways.
