Backlash Beer to Begin Canning

BOSTON, MA – Backlash Beer Company is excited to announce a partnership with Foolproof Brewing (Pawtucket, RI) to bring its two flagship offerings, Ricochet and Groundswell, into 16oz cans.

“We’ve had our sights set on canning for a while but as a contract brand, it’s really important to find the right partnership to make the whole thing work. We’re really fond of the folks at Foolproof and are thrilled to be working with them. Better late than never, right?” says founder Helder Pimentel.

Early in 2015, Backlash announced was retiring its thenbest selling beer, Declaration (Belgian Style IPA) and replacing it with Ricochet a move in response to the overwhelmingly positive response to the “Uprising!” series, where the company focused on single hop Double IPAs. So far, Ricochet has only been available on draft.

“Ricochet is a bone dry hop bomb showcasing some of the best aroma hops on the market. It hits you with a huge wave of aroma and flavor but finishes out very clean with only a slight lingering bitterness. This beer was always meant for the 16oz package.” Pimentel describes.

“As for Groundswell, nothing has changed. It’s the same dry yet fruity Belgian Style Blonde that we’ve been brewing consistently for almost five years. I’m pumped to have Groundswell available in cans just in time for summer. Hoping it’ll make its way into some beach coolers this year, it’s an awesome warm weather beer,” says Pimentel.

Cans are expected to ship in early spring.
