Buffalo, NY — 42 North Brewing Company and Budapest, Hungary craft brewery, Reketye, have teamed up to produce Hibiscus Kiss, a Belgian Double Wit. The beer was brewed in Budapest in collaboration between 42 North’s assistant brewer, Naz Drebot and Reketye owner and head brewer, Zoltán Reketye-Trifán.

The collaboration between 42 North and Reketye was formed when Naz Drebot, a Ukraine native, returned to Europe this past summer. While back in Europe, Naz has assisted Reketye with recipe development for additional Reketye brews. In recent years, Budapest has experienced a craft beer renaissance of its own with breweries like Reketye leading the way. Zoltan and Naz wanted to brew a unique Belgian Wit-style beer using ingredients from both the U.S. and Europe.

Hibiscus Kiss is a Belgian Double Wit brewed with Belgian Pilsner malt in addition to wheat and oats. German Hallertau Blanc and U.S. Citra hops combine with coriander, hibiscus flowers, orange peel, and lemon peel to produce a complex but subtle spice flavor with a pronounced citrus finish and just a kiss of hibisicus.

Hibiscus Kiss- ABV: 7.7% IBU: 23

The beer is now available in a limited amount of 11.2oz/0.33 L bottles and by the glass in the 42 North Taproom.
