Rogue Announces Jack Joyce Scholarship Award

PORTLAND, OR– Columbia Distributing, in partnership with Rogue Ales and Spirits, is pleased to announce the first annual Jack Joyce Scholarship Award, commencing fall of 2014. This $10,000 annual scholarship will be awarded to a student enrolled in the Fermentation Sciences Program in the department of Food Science and Technology at Oregon State University in Corvallis, OR. The award was created in honor of visionary Jack Joyce, for his legacy in the Oregon community and his career founding Rogue Brewery in 1988. His vision, creativity, and innovation led Rogue to take daring risks that created one of the most successful breweries and distillers in the nation.

Columbia and Rogue hope that this award will increase opportunities and enrollment into the fermentation sciences program, and allow students to use these funds to further their passion and desire to master the art of brewing. “The Jack Joyce Scholarship Award captures the essence of Jack’s eclectic spirit, and is the nation’s largest scholarship for undergraduates studying fermentation science. What an outstanding way to recognize the passion and creativity of OSU fermentation science students who may someday have the same impact that Jack did on the Oregon community,” said Robert McGorrin, Jacobs-Root Professor and department head of Food Science and Technology at OSU.
