Kansas City, MO — Now in its fourth year, Deschutes Brewery’s Base Camp for Beer Fanatics is better than ever! Beer fans in Kansas City are in for an amazing series of specialty beer tastings, beer and food pairings, and appearances by Woody, the giant beer barrel on wheels. Deschutes brewers, ambassadors and fanatics will be on hand to provide some in-the-trenches insight into our courageously crafted brews.
Deschutes Brewery’s Base Camp not only celebrates brewery’s popular Mirror Pond Pale Ale, but we also pull out the stops with other year-round favorites and specialty brews that can’t be found elsewhere.
Where’s Woody?
Woody, our good-times-on-wheels mobile bar, will be meeting and greeting fans around the region throughout Base Camp week. In greater Kansas City, Woody may be found roving around your neighborhood so you can snap a few photos, grab some swag and have some afternoon fun. Follow him at @dbwoody!

Cinco de Mayo Party With Deschutes Brewery
Arriba! Cinco de Mayo is the perfect excuse for a party, especially when it’s the very day that kicks off Deschutes Brewery’s “Base Camp for Beer Fanatics” in the Kansas City area. A week-long celebration of all things craft beer, we’re kicking it off right with the Oregon brewery’s giant traveling beer barrel, Woody, plus a Deschutes-inspired menu, a tamale truck and lots of damn tasty cerveza – like Mirror Pond Pale Ale, Black Butte Porter, Obsidian Stout Nitro and more. You can even win prizes by playing our lineup of Cinco de Mayo games for the evening!

Hats Off to Homebrewers
Attention homebrewers and beer geeks…come share your love for craft at Martin City Brewery for a collaborative event with Deschutes Brewery. Visitors can chat with the brewers from both Martin City and Deschutes while enjoying side-by-side samples of beers from both breweries (in your commemorative snifter!) while enjoying small bites of fare that have been expertly paired with the beers.. Gather complimentary brewing supplies, including clone recipe booklets and bags of whole flower hops, to use in your next homebrew (supplies are limited). A formal brewer Q&A session will answer your darkest, or lightest, brewing questions. Top off the evening with live music from a local band. Grab a fellow homebrewer or craft beer fan and join us for this amazing event!

The Deschutes Brewery gang is traveling down from Oregon with Woody, their giant traveling beer barrel – the biggest beer geek of them all. The menu for the evening features items that have been perfectly paired with a totally geeked out beer lineup with hard-to-find brews like The Abyss and Black Butte XXV, plus favorites like Mirror Pond Pale Ale and Black Butte Porter. You’ll have a chance to win a pint glass – if you have a Jeopardy-style mind with a pension for trivia.

Farm to Table Beer Dinner with Deschutes Brewery Not just any old beer dinner, this event is an “interactive” evening that gives guests hands-on insight into the world of food and craft beer. Executive chefs from both Anton’s and Deschutes Brewery will be in attendance, and have collaborated on the dishes for the evening using beers like the new Reserve Series beers Not the Stoic and Mirror Mirror. Chefs and brewers will educate visitors about cooking with beer, pairing foods with beer and more. The all organic, locally sourced menu has been expertly paired with the evening’s beer lineup which includes Mirror Pond Pale Ale, Twilight Summer Ale, Not the Stoic Belgian Quad and the Mirror Mirror barley wine.

It’s the season for BBQ, and we’re doing it right! Deschutes Brewery is here from Oregon, celebrating all things craft beer with their giant traveling beer barrel, Woody. Woody will be on the patio pouring beers like Mirror Pond Pale Ale, Fresh Squeezed IPA, Armory XPA and along with a plethora of special brews to be paired with meats that have been roasted to perfection. Top it off with live music, and it’s the perfect spring time celebration.

Beer drinking, beer pouring and beer making experts from Oregon’s Deschutes Brewery will be on hand to provide some finely balanced discussion of these important issues. Have a chat with them (they are here from Oregon for “Base Camp Week”, an event created just for beer fanatics) while sampling some beers like Mirror Pond Pale Ale, Black Butte Porter, Chainbreaker White IPA, Twilight Summer Ale, Fresh Squeezed IPA and more. What’s better than an evening full of craft beer from Oregon’s Deschutes Brewery? An evening full of craft beer…coupled with some comedy, variety acts, and lovely burlesque ladies. The event will be emceed by the one and only Naughty Pierre, who recently hosted one of the largest burlesque festivals of last year. The ladies will feature a Deschutes Brewery beer in each of their burlesque and variety stage acts. This is sure to be a night of excitement, laughter, and unforgettable fun – especially since everyone will be sampling Black Butte XXV (the brewery’s annual anniversary beer) at intermission.
