Sprecher Brewery Introduces ‘Tapas and Beer’

GLENDALE, WI – Get ready for an unprecedented culinary adventure at Sprecher Brewing Company! At 6pm on January 17th, 2013, Sprecher introduces “Tapas and Beer,” featuring a wide array of aromas and flavors over the course of two hours. Beginning with a brewery tour, guests will then be escorted to a private tasting of at least 12 tapas plates paired with 12 Sprecher beers.

Each tapas plate will have a carefully selected array of five to six different bites (e.g., artisan cheeses, nuts, fruit, assorted gourmet foods and snacks) meticulously paired with a Sprecher beer to highlight a range of tastes including sweet, salty, sour, bitter and umami. By the end of this edifying gastronomic experience guests will have tried over 70 unique flavors and learned how pairing changes and enhances the flavors in both the beer and food items.

“We worked really hard to get the combinations just right. Some will offer contrasting flavors, some complimentary, some surprising. We’ve incorporated several local producers and plan to include more. I think Sprecher’s at the forefront of revealing a dimension of beer that many people don’t think about. A beer on its own may taste great; what happens to that taste — those flavors — in combination with others? Our goal is to provide a pleasurable, intimate experience. I think we’ve achieved that,” said Sprecher president, Jeff Hamilton.

Pairing examples include: Sprecher Hefe Weiss paired with Maple Leaf White Cheddar with Cranberries, Bolzano Pamplona Runner Spanish-style Salami, Chili Spiced Mango, Dried Banana Chips and Sesame Honey Cashews. Chameleon Witty paired with Brie with Marmalade, Clementine, Lemon Ricotta Cookie, Triple Ginger Thin and Sprecher Beer Popcorn. Sprecher Generation Porter paired with Carr Valley Cocoa Cardona, Fresh Raspberries, Lorna Doone Shortbread, Assorted Dark Chocolates, Peanut Butter Stuffed Pretzels.

Beginning January 17th, “Tapas and Beer” will be offered every Thursday evening, 6pm-8pm, at Sprecher Brewing Company, 701 W. Glendale Ave., Glendale, WI. Cost: $30 per participant. Reservations are required and may be made by calling 414.964.2739. For more information about Sprecher “Tapas and Beer,” contact Jeff Hamilton at 414.964.7837 x251.
