Celebrating a benchmark in business, Mayflower Brewing Company has released a 5th year anniversary brew. The limited-batch release is a double IPA made with five distinct hop varieties – Cascade, Vanguard, Sorachi, Montueka and Belma – and packaged in in 22 oz. bottles. It has an ABV of 8.2 percent and will be available in Massachusetts stores beginning this week, according to a company release.
The 5th Year Anniversary Ale is Mayflower’s second “Cooper Series Brew,” a one-off batch that the company brews from time to time. Mayflower’s Thanksgiving Ale is the brewery’s only annual Cooper Series beer. The 5th Year Anniversary Ale is part of the company’s ‘Cooper Series’ of beers; one-off batches brewed on an infrequent basis. The only Cooper Series brew that Mayflower brews every year is its Thanksgiving Ale.
About Mayflower Brewing Company
Located in Plymouth, Mass., Mayflower made its first brew in Jan. 2008. The company was started as a second career by Drew Brossau, a 10th generation descendant of John Alden, the cooper on the Mayflower. The company offers four year-round beers: Pale Ale, Golden Ale, IPA and Porter, and four seasonal offerings: Winter Oatmeal Stout, Spring Hop Ale, Summer Rye Ale and Autumn Wheat Ale. The Porter won 2nd place in the Great British Beer Festival in 2008. The Pale Ale is the company’s flagship, but the IPA is its bestselling beer. Mayflower is currently sold in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Hampshire, and the company plans on entering Connecticut in 2013.
