Element Brewing Co Releases New Gluten-Free Beer

Millers Falls, MA – Element Brewing Company is pleased to announce the release of a new gluten-free beer. Plasma is now available on draft with bottles to follow this summer. It joins Element’s line up of Extra Special Oak, Red Giant and Dark Element with year round availability.

Keeping to Element’s tradition Plasma is a fusion of styles combining a strong IPA with a Sake. Brewed with brown rice, malted millet, malted buckwheat and Aramis hops (a new variety of French hops that impart a lemony and herbal aroma).

“Our goal was to create a delicious IPA that happened to be gluten free” said brewer and founder of Element Ben Anhalt. “We wanted its flavor to be indistinguishable from a beer produced with malted barley. It took a lot of experimentation to get the balance of flavors just right, and sourcing the ingredients took months of research. But we are thrilled with the end results!”

Consumer demand was the driving force behind this beer.

“We were constantly being asked if we had a gluten free beer.” Anhalt said. “But Dan (Kramer) and I never had one that we liked, so we set out to make a gluten free beer that all craft beer lovers would enjoy, not just those with gluten intolerance.”

He continued. This copper colored ale is fermented with the same proprietary yeast strain as the other Element beers, so its alcohol content is well masked.

Beer Specifications:

  • 9.33% Alcohol by Volume (ABV)
  • 64 International Bittering Units (IBU’s)
  • Deep Gold (Approximately 7o Lovibond)

Plasma is currently available on draft at select bars in Massachusetts and will be spreading to other New England states and New York in the coming months. 0.75L bottle conditioned bottles will be released in early summer.

About Element Brewery:

Ben Anhalt and Dan Kramer founded Element Brewing Co in 2009 in a small storefront in downtown Millers Falls, Massachusetts. With forty years of brewing experience between them they decided to only brew unique beers that fuse styles together, or creating new ones altogether. Element’s line of beer includes Extra Special Oak, Red Giant, Dark Element, and Plasma along with 4 seasonal Interval Ales. All of Element’s bottled beers are naturally carbonated through a bottle conditioning process.
