Coronado Brewing Company Broadens Distribution Footprint

San Diego brewery begins distributing in Northern California and Washington State

With the addition of new brewhouse capacity and positive momentum following the opening of a new tasting room, San Diego-based Coronado Brewing Company today announced plans to expand distribution across Northern California and Washington.

Coronado will be distributed by Wine Warehouse in Northern California and Odom Corporation in Washington. A variety of the brewery’s beers will be available in both markets beginning this week.

Coronado president Rick Chapman discussed the decision to expand into Northern California in a press statement.

“Northern California is a huge craft market with a passion for amazing beer,” he said. “We’ve always wanted to distribute there, but had to wait due to capacity restraints. This fills in our entire California footprint and we are extremely focused on growing our brand to the fullest extent in our home state.”

He also elaborated on the decision to enter Washington.

“The Pacific Northwest has expressed great demand for our beers,” he said. “We receive emails and calls constantly from people looking for our beer up there. We’re very happy to finally be able to satisfy that demand.”

The company sold 7,750 barrels of beer in 2012 and is forecasting 18,000 barrels for 2013.

San Diego, California — San Diego-based Coronado Brewing Company is expanding its distribution, releasing its award-winning, Southern California-style ales (read: refreshing, flavorful and extra hoppy) to two new markets.

Beginning on January 23, 2013, Odom Corporation will distribute five 22-ounce offerings, draft beer and four-packs of Idiot IPA—an assertive, citrusy double IPA brewed with plentiful doses of Chinook, Columbus, Cascade, Centennial and Nugget hops—to The Evergreen State. Residents of King and Snohomish Counties will be the first to receive the beer. Distribution to Eastern Washington is scheduled to begin on the back-end of 2013.

“The Pacific Northwest has expressed great demand for our beers. We receive emails and calls constantly from people looking for our beer up there. We’re very happy to finally be able to satisfy that demand.” says Coronado Brewing Company President Rick Chapman. “Washington has a great beer and foodie culture, making the region a great fit for our company as amazing food and craft beer have always been the foundation for what we do.”

On January 25, 2013, Wine Warehouse will begin distributing four-packs, six-packs, 22-ounce bottles and kegs of Coronado Brewing Company specialty beers to all California counties north of San Luis Obispo.

Says Chapman, “Northern California is a huge craft market with a passion for amazing beer. We’ve always wanted to distribute there, but had to wait due to capacity restraints. This fills in our entire California footprint and we are extremely focused on growing our brand to the fullest extent in our home state. We couldn’t be more excited.”

About Coronado Brewing Company:

In 1996, brothers Ron and Rick Chapman realized a long-time dream and got ahead of the craft brew curve in a big way, opening a brewpub in the heart of their hometown of Coronado. Back then, craft beer was still a foreign term and San Diego County was home to a mere handful of breweries, most of which were struggling to find their identity. The Chapman’s had no question about who they wanted to be. Their clear-cut mission was to celebrate their islander roots through the creation of exceptional beer. And with those noble ideals, Coronado Brewing Company was born.

In no time, CBC became the pride and joy of the Crown City behind an assortment of abundantly hoppy West Coast-style ales. That early success drove them to start distributing their beer outside the brewpub. They didn’t go far for their first sale, delivering a keg to historic hometown icon The Hotel Del Coronado. From there, slowly yet steadily, CBC’s fine, hand-crafted beers trickled into the local market where they fast became favorites amid San Diego’s burgeoning beer scene.
